Cityblooms - Urban Micro-Farms Company Information

General information

About Us:

Located at the intersection of the world’s tech and agricultural capitals, Cityblooms makes farming ‘smart.’ The inspiration for Cityblooms came out of a desire to provide sustainably grown food to a rapidly expanding population. Cityblooms has developed Internet connected and controlled micro-farms that transform underutilized spaces into highly productive agricultural hubs. With its time-tested, resource-efficient farming techniques, Cityblooms enables enterprising ‘agripreneurs’ to produce premium crops with drastic improvements in resource efficiency. At the end of the day, Cityblooms provides communities with easy and affordable access to nutritious fresh produce.

The Founder and CEO of Cityblooms is Nick Halmos.

How our systems work.

Put simply, a Cityblooms micro-farm can be thought of as a modular “growbot” that was designed to be flexible in order to adapt to the challenges inherent in farming the under-utilized nooks, crannies, and rooftops of the urban landscape. Using a series of plug-and-play modular pieces, a micro-farm can be assembled and scaled in a variety of shapes and sizes, while working around existing space constraints and obstacles.

Cityblooms cultivation modules are equipped with environmental controls that enable efficient production in a range of climates and locations. Similarly, cultivation modules can be configured to grow a wide variety of crops. Reservoir modules automate irrigation and plant nutrition making it simple to operate the hydroponic systems at peak efficiency. Using the power of cloud computing, a mobile user-interface gives the farmer remote command and control power while also keeping track of important crop data and operational records. This enables a micro-farm to run autonomously, which reduces the labor required to produce healthy greens and vegetables on a continuous schedule.

The Cityblooms Advantage:

Autonomous hydroponic clusters transform under-utilized spaces into productive agricultural gardens:
• Flexible and modular design reduces permitting and installation challenges.
• Lightweight and low profile; less than 15 lbs./ft2 aggregate roof loading makes roof-top installation practical without expensive and time consuming building retrofits.
• SaaS (software as a service) mobile interface provides remote command and control functions with “big-data” approach to crop and operational recordkeeping. This allows Cityblooms to offer grower assistance to urban farmers, regardless of where the farm is located.
• Automated environment, irrigation, and plant nutrition functions allow a micro-farm to operate autonomously, which increases the efficiency of labor and resource inputs.
• Multiple cultivation module configurations allow production of a variety of crops.
• Plumbing configurations and other equipment are designed for easy cleaning and maintenance.
• Modules are quickly assembled and transported so a micro-farm does not require a long-term lease for installation and can become operational on a short timeline.
• Complete package available for creating turnkey, food safety certified, urban farms.
• Full customer support and training.
